2004 Mazdaspeed Miata MX5 in
excellent condition with just over 98k miles and a clean Florida title. No accident history and I have owned and babied this car since 2015. These came from the factory with a turbo, front mounted air-to-air intercooler, beefed up 6 speed manual, larger anti-sway bars, Bilstein racing shocks, special 17" Racing Hart alloy wheels and misc body cladding and trim pieces to differentiate it from normal Miatas. This is one of only 5428 total examples produced by Mazda during its limited production run (2004-2005). While its rare to see one on these turbo models on the road, it's based on the same bulletproof, economical and ultra-reliable Miata platform that regularly sees 300k miles and beyond on their engines. They are meant to be driven. I have a clean Carfax report available upon request.
My car has been 100% garage kept since I have owned it. Since I lightly use it for weekend cruising and the occasional car show only, it qualifies for Grundy specialty car insurance due to its exclusivity and upgrades performed. I currently pay under $400 a year for full coverage (including comp/collision). It's reliable enough though to be used a daily commuter if needed.
The top and defrosted glass window are 2 years old and in mint condition as the car is 100% garage kept. Car recently re-painted same Velocity Red as from factory with zero body work and/or rust repair needed. Just needed fresh paint due to years of small rock chips and some scratches from my 2 year old playing in the garage! Just finished clay barring entire vehicle this past weekend and finish is absolutely stunning and smooth as silk. Interior in really good shape with a little seat belt rub on the drivers side leather seat (typical). Factory dash, carpet and floor mats are in excellent shape and still very dark. Bose 6 disc changer does not work but AM/FM works and power antenna goes up and down as if brand new. Installed an auxilary input cable so you can play Iphone/Samsung/MP3s through factory Bose head unit. Bose speakers still produce solid sound. Factory gear knob was pretty worn so I replaced it with a solid metal shift ball. Looks really sharp. Rear taillights are sprayed with a smoke tint that can be removed if needed. Brand new Velozza 205/40/17 tires (x4) and front end alignment performed a week ago. Wheel locks included
All work performed has been standard preventative maintenance. New water pump, timing belt, valve cover gasket, radiator and belts replaced in 2016 at 96k miles. Synthetic oil change and NGK spark plugs/wire replacement performed in May of 2017 at 97k miles. Air blows cold and all switches and dials work as intended. All 4 rotors and racing brake pads replaced February of 2017 and car stops on a dime. Battery replaced a month ago. No real check engine lights but due to the catalytic converter removal and deletion of that in-line O2 sensor, the CEL will turn on after several hours of driving time. Since I don't drive that often that translates to about once every 4-6 weeks. I simply unplug the battery for 5 minutes and let the ECU reset and it goes away. Has zero affect on performance while light is on. This is a very common issue on aftermarket intake and exhaust modifications.
Factory turbo car arrived with 178hp at the engine with about 150hp at the wheels. In this super light +/- 2,400lb car that scoots you quickly around town at about 6 seconds. I have done several key performance upgrades to allow the car to breath and exhale much easier and really make it come alive. This car now has about 240hp at the engine and about 210hp at the wheels now. Being a middle aged family man I haven't raced it, but my butt-o-meter tells me this is a low 5 second car at this point. Maybe even faster. The restrictive air box was replaced with a cone style K&N cold air system from BEGI Engineering. 2.5" mandrel bent Racing Hart muffler and Meghan downpipes and cat-delete now make exhausting out a far easier process. Old rubber throttle inlet tube that swelled under boost from factory replaced with with aluminum Flying Miata tube for increased throttle response and performance. Samco blow off valve really keeps turbo at boost and also make a pretty cool "whish" sound my son loves! When I replaced my radiator I also installed an aluminum air guide at the top to help force maximum air flow over the radiator and cooling fans. I also installed a driver pillar mounted boost gauge to keep an eye on things.
2 extra K&N oil filters, Flying Miata repair manual (signed by Keith Tanner), 2 factory keys and 1 factory alarm fob, used factory intercooler, manual boost controller, 4 flow tested Denso high flow fuel injectors. The factory electronic boost control is set for the turbo to produce only 8.5lbs of boost,
which is actually pretty conservative for how tough the car is built. My car is still in that exact factory condition, but included in the sale is a manual boost controller and 4 larger flow fuel injectors. My intent was to install them but I felt the increase in HP just wasn't required. With this setup you could safely increase boost up to 12lbs and get another 20-30hp if desired.
Overall the car is in great condition. Only reason I am selling it is to make room for a boat in the garage. I can only have one toy at a time so sadly she has to go. Additional pictures and information available upon request. Thanks and happy bidding.....
